Taco

American dog
Taco was our first rescue dog and what a fun and feisty dog he was! His picture was the first photo I took years ago with a cell phone with a camera. He was laying partially on my lap when I was trying to figure out my phone and is saying “hey, enough already, let me lie here in peace!” The shelter listed him as Jack Russel and Chihuahua mix, never had him tested but I would guess there were many other canine genes in him. As a baby he could easily make the standing jump onto a high bed we had that was over 3’ up. My biggest regret is that knew nothing about dog agility at that time, Taco would have been a champion and agility rock star for sure. Despite his sometimes ornery nature he was easy to train, therefore much fun for everyone. Friends who had never had or trained a dog just loved it that Taco could and would obey all of their commands. He was a perfect leash walker. He was a total street dog on the outside and total marshmallow old lady’s fluff dog on the inside. He was quite a boy, was about 17 when the joints and body were just too painful to make life worth living. Still in those last few days with all hearing gone, little eyesight and barely able to move he could still intimidate his big brothers and protect his food bowl at feeding time. And the only dog we ever had that ate all the chocolate Beechmont Pet could give him (with gusto!) in his final hour. My best buddy.
